Hurricane is the tenth studio album by singer Grace Jones, released in 2008, and her first album of new material in nineteen years. Grace Jones' previous album, Bulletproof Heart, was released in 1989, and despite several comeback attempts throughout the 1990s, her next full-length record would be released almost two decades later. The singer had decided "never to do an album again", changing her mind only after meeting the music producer Ivor Guest via mutual friend Philip Treacy.

Oh, nobody does it the way I like this? Where are you from? Yeah, you really got me now. I was at a party, spotted your baby face Hair slicked back in place, smile so vivid I knew I had to make a move on your pretty feet Weak off I've got to think to get you in my limits. Let me show you how to ease my tension, use your body and soul Just how far will I go? You want an answer to your question do you really want to know? You're out of my reach that's why I want you more.

Seven Day Weekend is a collection of demos by rock band the New York Dolls. The tracks were recorded at Planet Studios in 1973 but the collection was not released until 1992. Jones recorded it the next day over the exact same instrumental, and even the style of the vocal lines are often very similar. Grace became almost completely disenfranchised by the music business after her lacklustre Bulletproof Heart album in 1989, releasing the odd single for film soundtracks, but showing little interest in making another album. In 1997 she was reported to be working with Tricky, but that didn’t last long, although Hurricane – which they worked on together – did become the title track when she finally did release an album in 2008 (it had been called Cradle to the Grave when she’d worked with the Bristolian producer).

Grace Jones' discography consists of 10 studio albums, eight compilation albums and 53 singles. Jones began her recording career in 1975 with a disco song "I Need a Man" which became her first number one on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart two years later. She has since topped this chart with "Slave to the Rhythm" in 1985, "Love on Top of Love" in 1989 and "Sex Drive" in 1993, scoring four number one club hits in the United States, with a total of 17 entries on this chart. Jones achieved chart prominence with her 1981 breakthrough album Nightclubbing which entered top 10 in five countries and was her first album to receive recording certifications for its sales. Jones' commercially most successful album to date remains her 1985 compilation Island Life, the only album chart-topper of her career. Grace Jones discography. Such a disappointment when I put on this record. I absolutely love the original track from the 'Boomerang' soundtrack, so I was hoping for, maybe even expecting, some nice New Jack Swing mixes on this one. Ben Liebrand did a great job when he remixed another Dallas Austin production: TLC - Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg. This time around, there are dance/house remixes, which I was never a fan of. Those hard hitting Dallas Austin beats were replaced by generic repetitive house beats, leaving nothing of the funkiness of the original track. Too bad.
