Sing Monkey Sing, the fourth album from alternative Southern rockers Raging Slab, is a bizarre experience to say the least. A haphazardly assembled collection of half-baked, atonal Southern-tinged grinds, the album is simply a huge question mark - especially following the masterful accomplishment that was 1993's Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert.
Raging Slab is the second full-length album (and major label debut) by American hard rock band Raging Slab. The album featured the singles "Don't Dog Me," and "Bent For Silver. All songs written by Greg Strzempka. Greg Strzempka - vocals, guitar. Elyse Steinman - bottleneck guitar. Alec Morton - bass guitar. Mark Middleton - lead guitar. Tony Scaglione - drums on all tracks except "Get Off My Jollies".
The story behind Sing Monkey Sing is that, over the past five years, the band had recorded three albums for American Recordings, all of which were rejected by Rick Rubin, who "didn't hear any songs. Yet even though they refused to release any of this material, they wouldn't let the band out of their contract. So Raging Slab recorded this album, with its sarcastic, bitter title, and made it intentionally bad by their own standards (and ours)
