Mock Tudor is the ninth studio album by Richard Thompson. In this album Thompson draws predominantly on the musical styles of 1960s England-the time and place of his youth.
For the Richard Thompson album, see Mock Tudor (album). Tudor Revival architecture (also known as mock Tudor in the UK) first manifested itself in domestic architecture, in the United Kingdom, in the latter half of 19th century. Based on revival of aspects which were perceived as Tudor architecture, however, it was instead usually taking the style of English vernacular architecture of the Middle Ages that had survived into the Tudor period. The style later became an influence elsewhere, especially the British colonies. For example, in New Zealand, the architect Francis Petre adapted the style for the local climate
The first Richard and Linda Thompson album, I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight, was recorded in May 1973 in short time and on a small budget. Largely because of the petrol shortage in Britain and its impact on the availability of vinyl for records, Bright Lights was held back by Island Records for nearly a year before being released in April 1974.
