Album · 2012 · 31 Songs. He then joined up with Bunny Striker Lee in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s to record under his own name for the Jackpot label. These sides proved to be some of the best of Smith’s career, including both sterling covers of soul classics and outstanding originals. This compilation on the . based Attack imprint collects 31 of the strongest selections from the later portion of Smith’s career, plus a handful of tunes from his time leading The Uniques. Even the lesser-known cuts here are gems, and this set provides a worthwhile, if not exhaustive, guide to the career of one of the greatest early.

The Smiths is the eponymous debut studio album by English rock band the Smiths, released on 20 February 1984 by Rough Trade Records. After the original production by Troy Tate was felt to be inadequate, John Porter re-recorded the album in London, Manchester and Stockport during breaks in the band's UK tour during September 1983. The album was well received by critics and listeners, and reached number two on the UK Albums Chart, staying on the chart for 33 weeks

Elliott Smith is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith. It was preceded by the single "Needle in the Hay", released in early January.

Slim Smith death was a great lost to the reggae music industry and to jamaica as a whole. He was truly a talent. It's too sad that these guys have to die before they are appreciated. Original vocal tracks from 1968-72 with new backing band tracks. Not bad, but not great like the original mixes. about 9 months ago. Valdir Campos Estrela Estrela. Marley foi realmente o Rei do Reggae mas em compensação o que tem de Príncipe do ritmo não está em nenhum gibi. Faya Slim Smith! about 9 months ago. Fred McCormack.

Keep That Lovelight Shining. Smith possessed an otherworldly falsetto, and put it to good use on great tracks like covers of the Impressions' "I'm Lost," John D. Loudermilk's "If It Don't Work Out (Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye)," his own "Stand Up and Fight," and the Motown classic "Everybody Needs Love. His non-falsetto tones are sweet and smooth, too. There are no weak tracks to be found; besides, Smith could sing transcripts from traffic court and make them sound like heavenly harps and angels on high

Sam Smith’s breakout moment as a deep house don on Disclosure’s Latch, arguably the sexiest club banger of 2012, was a feint. Sure, dude could sing. But given the digital-chipmunk high notes and other effects, the jam gave little indication of his full power. His debut LP, In the Lonely Hour, clarified matters, racking up ridiculous stream and sales numbers, plus four Grammys. Him elevates a set of brilliantly-sung songs into a potent concept album that universalizes heartbreak from a distinctly LGBTQ point of view. Yes, the magic beats of Latch are missed. But here’s hoping for a house remix of Him that will raise the roof in clubs gay and straight for years to come. Download Sam Smith – The Thrill of It All Album (Zip). 01. Slim Smith (born Keith Smith) was born in Jamaica in 1948. He got his start in the early '60s with producer Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, working both as a solo act and as part of the vocal group the Techniques. Thanks to his already powerful and singular voice (his falsetto-capable tenor contained shades of both Sam Cooke and his hero, Curtis Mayfield), Smith soon took over the lead spot in the Techniques. Next, Smith suspended his solo career once again to join the Uniques, a group which featured singers Jimmy Riley and Lloyd Charmers.
