The Uglysuit were an indie rock band from Oklahoma City. The lineup was made up of Israel Hindman (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Kyle Mayfield (Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums), Crosby Bray (Vocals, Drums, Guitar), Jonathan Martin (Vocals, Piano, Organ, Guitar), Colin Bray (Vocals, Guitar), and Dustin Maynord (Bass, Guitar). Their name, "The Uglysuit", is a reference to how the band members enjoy dressing up in old suits at thrift stores
At times, all the sweetness and light can be a bit repetitive. But for a first outing, The Uglysuit does serve as a much more quiet sort of inspiration-which, sometimes, can be quite profound. 60. The net result of The Uglysuit’s formula sounds something like an imagined pairing of Bedhead and Phish. It’s all right as far as it goes.

There's certainly nothing ugly about the Uglysuit's debut album, whose nine songs veer between breezy indie pop, psychedelic folk, shoegaze, and flashes of laid-back math rock. That's an odd combination, to be sure, but the Uglysuit tackle their shifting time signatures without losing their mellow, a move that adds complexity while preserving the sunny California vibes these Midwesterners evoke so easily.
