Wanted: Dead or Alive is the second album by the hip hop duo Kool G Rap & DJ Polo. The album was released a year after the duo's debut, Road to the Riches, and received greater acclaim from most music critics. State of Mind" from his critically acclaimed album Illmatic.

Road to the Riches is the debut album by hip hop duo Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, which was released in 1989 on then-prominent hip hop label Cold Chillin' Records. The album is notable in that it set off the mafioso rap trend with the title track "Road to the Riches," which received strong rotation on the TV show Yo! MTV Raps, and was later featured on the old-school hip hop radio station Playback FM from the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Most of the songs, however, are not crime-related.

Although this double-disc set is subtitled "The Best of Cold Chillin'," it shouldn't be confused with the rather different but overlap-prone compilation that is simply titled The Best of Cold Chillin'. This particular package is simply a pairing of Kool G Rap & DJ Polo's first two albums: 1989's Road to the Riches and 1990's Wanted: Dead or Alive. Without going into specifics about the side of the country the duo represented, what stylistic ground they covered, or their era of origin, there's no denying that these two albums are rap classics.

Kool G Rap- His lisp is still crisp- Possessing one of the most distinctive voices in hip-hop, he blazed a trail for several rappers to follow, despite being relatively unknown by mainstream standards. He's kind of like Iggy Pop of the hip hop world- he never sold a tremendous amount of records, but he maintains a cult following that won't quit, while scores of newcomers point to him as an influence. Kool G Rap & DJ Polo appeared on the New York hip hop scene in 1986, releasing "It's a Demo" (produced by Marley Marl) and becoming recognized members of the Juice Crew. More singles followed until G Rap's appearance on "The Symphony", a Juice Crew posse cut that also featured Big Daddy Kane. After this, the Queens bred duo went into the studio with Marley Marl to cut their first full length, Road to the Riches. Although the title track laid the foundation for much of New York's gangsta rap for the next decade, the album was mostly composed of battle rap. Road to the Riches turntables were handled mostly by Marley Marl, with some help from Dr. Butcher. For Wanted: Dead or Alive, Dr. Butcher would become G Rap's exclusive DJ and handle all cuts and scratches for the record. ) denotes co-producer.
