Grand Funk (commonly known as The Red Album) is the second studio album by American rock band Grand Funk Railroad. It was produced by Terry Knight and engineered by Ken Hamann. The album was certified gold by the RIAA, the first for the group. It includes a cover of The Animals' "Inside Looking Out" which is still a cornerstone of the band's live concerts today.
The first single released from the album, "Mean Mistreater", was released on November 23 and the second, "Inside Looking Out", was released in January 1971. The album was originally released as a double album on the LP format. Subsequent reissues of the album on the compact disc format have been both double and single disc sets.

What's the smallest? I played in a auditorium in front of 300 peoples back in high School. I dis a lot of mariage and i played in a bar a couple time. Playing blues in a little local bar with musician with exprience was mmorable. You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick? Double Trouble from Stevie Ray Vaughan. I heard it for the first Time when i was 19 and i like it cause this album is intense from the beginning till the end.
Grand Funk Railroad was a seminal force in giving the friendlier side of the heavy rock sound its charm and making it stick. Built on fuzzed-out blues riffs, simple lyrics, and at times seemingly unnecessary jamming, Grand Funk's songs are mild in nature.
