Danzig and Doyle continue to regularly play Misfits songs, most recently as part of the Danzig 25th anniversary tour. On September 4, 2016, the Misfits with Danzig, Only and Doyle (along with drummer Dave Lombardo and guitarist Acey Slade), performed the first of their two reunion shows at the Riot Fest in Denver. The set featured 25 songs. In an interview with Rolling Stone following the first reunion show Only was asked about the future of the Misfits, and if there were plans to continue and possibly record new music.
Danzig & Doyle (3) – Play Misfits. Tracks A9 to A12 recorded live At Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, CA on Halloween 2007. Tracks B1 to B5 were recorded for a 'Danzig Legacy' TV special in Glendale, CA in May 2012. Trackpositions for B-side tracks are mixed up on the back sleeve. No etchings into the run-out grooves.
Danzig formed Samhain, a project which was more experimental and metal oriented than The Misfits, and that would later form into his main project (known simply as Danzig) that solidified his transition into the metal genre. Only and Doyle laid low some years after The Misfits, though they did play in a Christian metal band for a while. A few compilations came out post-humously, most notably Legacy Of Brutality and Collection I & II. These documented most of the band's recorded material, though some songs were slightly different versions of the originals due to overdubs done by Danzig.
Danzig could take this devilish ditty and give it some (fuckin’) attitude, leaving Jerry and Doyle to shout VIVID RED! for two minutes. 6. The Forbidden Zone (1999). Graves’ second outing with the band, Famous Monsters, wasn’t as rough and ready as American Psycho, nor was its quality anywhere near as high. Another one from the Misfits’ latest album, The Devil’s Rain, that was surely conceived with Danzig in mind. It’s pouring down, it’s come for you. The Devil’s rain! could have been nicked straight from Danzig’s Deth Red Sabaoth (released a year prior, coincidentally) and honestly, this would be a cracking, atmospheric number with Glenn at the helm. Misfits play Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver this month.
Doyle joined Danzig onstage for the first time since 1983 in 2006 to perform Misfits songs, and Danzig and Doyle toured together intermittently in the following years. Lawsuits and feuds have ensued over the years, but there have been a few moments where the chasm had seemed to be closing. In 2011, Only told Rolling Stone he would not rule out a reunion. Doing it with Glenn may work on a short-term basis, he said. I could see us getting together and lining up a bunch of big festivals and a bunch of big shows
