The 1956 session was originally released in 1958 on Verve Records album produced by Norman Granz as The Art Tatum - Ben Webster Quartet, but Granz re-acquired the masters in the 1970s after the album was allowed to go out of print

A complete quartet session by Webster with another celebrated pianist, Teddy Wilson, and a beautiful Tatum solo piano rendering of 'All the Things You Are' have been added as a bonus. Tracks 1-7 are the album titled Ben Webster-Art Tatum Quartet. They were recorded for Verve in Los Angeles on September 11, 1956. Backing Webster and Tatum are Red Callender on bass and Bill Douglas on drums. Tracks 8 through 10 are alternate takes from the September 11 session that were not released on the original album. Tracks 11 through 14 are from the album titled Music For Loving that was recorded for Verve's predecessor label (NOGRAN) in NYC on on March 30, 1954. Webster is paired with Teddy Wilson on piano and backed by Ray Brown on bass and Papa Jo Jones on drums.
