Released November 14, 1995. Labcabincalifornia Tracklist.
Labcabincalifornia is an album that is often overlooked, forgotten, and ultimately overshadowed by the giant, looming shadow Bizzare Ride II the Pharcyde cast. The album is also missing one of the key elements that made they’re debut an overwhelming success; J-Swift’s production. The dark yet laid back musical backdrop he created caused an interesting contrast to the lighthearted stoner rhymes provided by the rest of the group. This aspect to the group’s sound is missed until you hear that a young J Dilla is behind the boards for most of the album
When the Pharcyde released their 1992 debut album, Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, it felt like nothing short of a miracle. Gangsta rap (at least on the West Coast) was in its prime, its success measured in both visibility and record sales. For an up-and-coming Los Angeles rap group to take a dramatic turn away from the direction of that of their . contemporaries was not only bold, but also refreshing. With sophomore records, it’s natural for an artist to set a goal to make an even more grandiose and better-selling record.
In 1995, The Pharcyde released their second album, Labcabincalifornia. The album included another big crossover hit, "Runnin'", peaking at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This single was later featured in the movie 8 Mile, as well as the More Music from 8 Mile soundtrack. Though Humboldt Beginnings is to date the last Pharcyde album, its members have since been keeping busy with various contributions and projects. A compilation of The Pharcyde was released in 2005, titled Sold My Soul: The Remix & Rarity Collection, featuring a number of remixes and rare songs. Former member Fatlip released his solo debut in 2005, titled The Loneliest Punk, and Tre Hardson's second full-length solo album SLIMKID3's Cafe was released on April 4, 2006.

Listen free to The Pharcyde – Labcabincalifornia (Bullshit, Pharcyde and more). Labcabincalifornia is the second album by The Pharcyde, released in 1995, three years after their debut Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. The album's production was handled by The Pharcyde themselves and J Dilla (known then as Jay Dee). The first single was "Drop". The video for "Drop" was directed by Spike Jonze, and used footage of the group performing the song backwards, replayed backwards, giving it a surreal quality. The backwards theme of the video was also a reference.
LabcabinCalifornia is an experimental, introspective album that shows the group working through problems and doing their thing on excellent signature tracks like "Runnin," "Drop," "Somethin' That Means Somethin," "Groupie Therapy," "She Said," "Splattitorium," "Y," "Moment in Time," and "Devil Music.
