The Giraffes is a solo endeavor by Seattle-based artist Chris Ballew, better known as a member of the Presidents of the United States of America. It was founded in 1998 and has a single member. The band has been performing live since 2000 with the help of Jason Staczek (organ, clarinet) and Mike Musburger (drums). In 2015, 15 years after the last official release, Chris Ballew put together We Hear Music, a 33-track double album consisting of previously unreleased Giraffes material
Zero is the fifth studio album by American rock band Hawthorne Heights, released on June 25, 2013. It's their first album to be released through Red Entertainment. The album was produced by Brian Virtue. It was announced early 2013 that the band signed deal with Red Entertainment and that a new album is in the works. They put their final EP from their Hate/Hope Trilogy on hold, so they can work on a new album. They financed the entire project via pledgemusic

The album was announced on November 22, 2013. It started as a project through the direct-to-fan platform PledgeMusic, where fans would be able to pledge money on the future album and other rarities such as lyric sheets and other items. The project reached its goal in nine days. According to their PledgeMusic campaign, The Presidents of the United States of America more or less actively considered These Are the Good Times People to be their final album.
