Music By – Zac Keiller. Performed in one afternoon in one take using guitar, vocals & triggered field recordings. This was recorded in one take in one afternoon in 2008. I was experimenting with new gear setups at the time. Atlantis is one of those rare examples when the creativity is flowing perfectly and all the necessary sounds and mistakes all happen to work out like they should. It should be noted that the final portion of this song has been reworked into my short film and live soundtrack Amanecer, but more on that another time.
Atlantis is the sixteenth album by Wayne Shorter. It was released on the Columbia label in 1985 and was Shorter's first solo album since 1974. The recording is notable in Shorter's body of work both for its relative lack of improvisation and for the high level of its compositions and group arrangements. Brazilian and Funk rhythms are featured on several tracks, as is a mixture of electric and acoustic instrumentation.
Farthest North is the result of a musical collaboration between Canada's Parhelion and Australian sound artist Zac Keiller. The idea originated while they both were treading similar thematic ground with their individual projects, mainly, that of using the far north as an artistic muse. The end result of their effort is a record that, through the prism of its authors, focuses on capturing the essence of this extreme landscape, eschewing the romanticized and instead focusing on the stark, cold immensity and volatility of a place located at the ends of the world.
