Quarter tones and intervals close to them also occur in a number of other equally tempered tuning systems. 22-TET contains an interval of 5. 5 cents, slightly wider than a quarter-tone, whereas 53-TET has an interval of 4. 8 cents, slightly smaller. Composer Charles Ives chose the chord C–D –F–G –B♭ as good possibility for a "secondary" chord in the quarter-tone scale, akin to the minor chord of traditional tonality. He considered that it may be built upon any degree of the quarter tone scale Here is the secondary "minor" and its "first inversion"

QUARTER TONES A text with musical examples, exercises and etudes.

Attilio Joseph "Teo" Macero (October 30, 1925 – February 19, 2008) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and record producer. He was a producer at Columbia Records for twenty years. Macero produced Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, and Dave Brubeck's Time Out, which are two of the best-selling and most influential jazz albums of all time. Although the extent of his role has been disputed, he also has been associated with the production of Davis' 1959 album Kind of Blue, jazz's best-selling record.

Singer: Charles Ives. Album: New Music In Quarter-Tones. Liner Notes – Calvin Hampton, Charles Ives, Donald Lybbert, Teo Macero. Piano – George Pappastavrou, Stuart Warren Lanning. Producer – David Behrman.

This CD reissue features tenor saxophonist Teo Macero (who would later become much better known as a record producer) in as straight-ahead a setting as he ever appeared. With stimulating support from pianist Mal Waldron, vibraphonist Teddy Charles, bassist Addison Farmer, and drummer Jerry Segal, Macero performs a variety of then-recent ballads, of which only "Star Eyes" (arranged by Hall Overton) did not come from Teo or his associates.
