Complete your The Jam collection. This album provides what no other contemporary Jam release can - a glimpse into the experience that was seeing and hearing The Jam live. Essential if, like me, you were too young (just) to be there yourself. Not for The Jam banks of video screens, light shows and pyrotechnics, here the music speaks for itself and the recordings are so crisp that you feel that you are right there among the crowd with the smell of smoke, beer, sweat and perfume.

It's not a perfect album, admittedly, though that's due in large part to the sheer number of memorable songs that don't show up (something that Live Jam rectified 11 years later). That said, plenty of hands-down winners take a bow. Besides obvious highlights like "Start," "Going Underground," and a superb "That's Entertainment," noteworthy album cuts get well-deserved showcases.
