Anarchy is the sixth studio album by anarcho-punk band Chumbawamba. Many of the tracks address specific social issues, such as homophobia, strikes or fascism. Its graphic cover, depicting a baby's head emerging from a vagina, prompted the record to be banned from some shops and stocked in plain sleeves in others.
Shhh is the fifth studio album by the band Chumbawamba. It was originally written and recorded as Jesus H. Christ, an album that relied heavily on samples. The band was unable to procure rights to a number of the songs they sampled, however, and the album was largely re-worked to defend artistic intent and criticize censorship. The album sleeve artwork itself incorporated various rejection letters received by the band denying the rights to the Christ samples.
Chumbawamba's second album, Never Mind the Ballots. Here's the Rest of Your Lives, was released in 1987, coinciding with the general election, and questions the validity of the British democratic system of the time. The band adopted another moniker, Scab Aid, for the "Let It Be" song release that parodied a version of the Beatles song recorded by the popstar .
Anarchy (Chumbawamba album). The album was a commercial success, giving the group their first top 40 album on the UK Albums Chart. The album debuted and peaked at number 29 on the chart dated 7 May 1994; it spent a total of three weeks on the chart before exiting the top 10. .All songs written and arranged by Chumbawamba except where noted. All songs produced and engineered by Chumbawamba and Neil Ferguson.
Throughout the album, there's some inspiring music that's made on a shoestring but sounds like a million dollars. The anarchist musical collective known as Chumbawamba not only talks the talks, but also walks the walks. Think and laugh - and don't forget to dance, too.
