Advaitic Songs is the fifth studio album by the band Om, released on July 24, 2012. The album has received a generally favorable response from both fans and critics, though its reception was more mixed than past works. As with Pilgrimage and God Is Good, Advaitic Songs' album cover again visits Abrahamic Iconography. The cover of Advaitic Songs features an image of John the Baptist.

Advaitic Songs by Om, released 24 July 2012 1. Addis 2. State of Non-Return 3. Gethsemane 4. Sinai 5. Haqq al-Yaqin Philosophy/Religion. Heavy ascends to a level it would have been impossible to foresee, decimated by sheer imagination and expansive quality. kiatheking It's so incredibly soothing yet so heavy at the same time, feels like it's moving more with every track on a doomy journey with middle eastern influences.

Advaitic Songs, like 2009's God Is Good, incorporates instruments like tabla, cello, and flute (which, admittedly, is made of metal). The paradox about them is this: With two people, Om sounded expansive; with more, they sound comparatively weak. The music is unmistakably theirs, but the intensity of it feels lost in the arrangements. Listening to it, I worry that at any point I may be visited by southeast Asian violins.

But Om has such a smooth and doomed atmosphere in their music, I can listen for hours and it relaxes me totally. Are there any other bands that are making such a relaxing stoner music? gustavo A Secas. Honey marie Simbajon. It's extremely weird for me to run into that in OM album since I understand Arabic and I get what are they saying. But I guess from the perspective of a non-arabic speaker it may be cool. One of my fave albums. Long live OM. Excited to see what they do next.

Advaitic Songs achieves a level of composition that would've been impossible to foresee. There remains the singularity of purpose that is the core of all Om records, but whatever drone-doom camp that Om had been placed in has been decimated by the sheer imagination and expansive quality of this recording. Let's call it "heavy world music". Of all of Om's releases, Advaitic Songs possibly has the greatest cover. The album is not a gatefold, so the two discs fit into a single cover. There's a single square sheet with lyrics on one side, and the amazing duck/snake image in embossed black on black paper.

This is probably my favorite record in my collection. The sound quality is fantastic and the entire package is beautiful.
This record sounds amazing, very nice master and pressing, and at 45RPM gives you a heavenly audio experience. Music is hypnotic and meditative with lot`s of influences from Arabic Middle East, not so much stoner rock here.
This is an excellent album, though there is absolutely no reason that this needs to be a double LP.
Never thought of it, I’ll make sure to try that !
You can play it slower and lower and it's beautiful.
Yes there is. The fewer songs on each side, the higher quality the sound will be on those songs. It sounds weird but its true.
It is pressed in 45 rpm, so it can sound better ! The furrows are more spaced, the vinyl breathes, and it sounds better. My copy of Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy is pressed in 45rpm and it sounds insanely good.
Stunning audio quality off of this album. Kinda what you would expect from a band whos name is "OM" haha
I guess that I'm pretty unlucky :(I just received the album... which is amazing BTW! However my Vinyl copy is skipping like crazy.side A some problemsside B some small sounds - big skipp right at 50% of the disk, then 0 problems.side C absolutley no problemsside D small skips right from the start (currently listening to it)I really thing I got a bad print or something. I can't explain why side C has no problems but others do. The skips also happen on the same spots and not randomly. The pickup is new ... and I had 0 problems with new Vinyls & 30 year old vinyls.Any suggestions?Thank YouEDIT: I bought the Vinyl from hhv.de. I told them the problem, they told me to make a video... I made a video and they send me a new copy. That copy didn't arrived, it returned to them so they just refunded me. I still got to keep the old broken copy so that's great. Not because now I own a broken copy but because I didn't had to go to the hasstles of shipping a product (costs $ and such). So HHV.de were great on that part!!
Just bought a copy and have the similar issues. Side one sounded weird towards the end and one side (3) completely skips all over the place, throughout the whole track. Gutted.
Nah. It was 100% the disks. Keep in mind that from 4 sides, 1 side worked perfectly, but 3 not. Also the skipps were always in the same spots.I also have 30 other vinyls that nave no problems.Anyway... I was refunded the sum for that vinyl.
What turntable do you have? Maybe that's the source of the problem
I originally saw this in a record store in Spain about 18 months ago, but when I went to get it the store was closed. I finally managed to get a copy from Newbury Comics in Boston at the weekend and all I can say is that it was well worth the wait! I could sit here and listen to this ALL DAY! Not only is it a great album, it sounds incredible.
Absolutely astounding. Both the music and the recording quality. One of the best albums I've ever heard and the best sounding LP in my collection.
Hi! My copy has some pitch issues on Side A, especially notable at the end of the side (State of non-return). Does your copy have the same problem?Thank you

I'm looking for this album, a vinyl one. But on my favourite online shop i read that it will be a single LP. It will be possible? They give me only this: B0083GJ1F8 by Drag City.thanks!
Yes it is possible on 1 LP, songs 1,2 + 3 count less than 23 minutes and the rest less than 22mins.I have LPs that play for many minutes more and they play just fine.
The best doom/drone record I have yet heard. Stunning playing from everyone involved: restrained yet dynamic drums and percussion, beautiful cello, haunting flute, gut churning deep bass, chanted vocals (a nod to Sleep?). Hypnotic. Soul stirring. A mention must also be made of the superb recording, mastering and pressing quality of the vinyl. It sounds to me like it is most probably a digital recording, but done so well that it transcends by far most contemporary digital recordings (which it must be said are usually poor). The extra dynamic clout available from 45rpm vinyl is utilised to stunning effect. I repeat: STUNNING! ~*~
Hi! My copy has some pitch issues on Side A, especially notable at the end of the side (State of non-return). Does your copy have the same problem?Thank you
Logically, the dynamics will outperform those of the cd pressing.
Being it digital does not mean it will be inferior to analog, the digital master is a very detailed file.
